Professor Brand is the scientist of NASA and the mastermind behind the Lazarus mission and the Endurance mission. He spent most of his lifetime trying to figure out certain loop holes in the gravity so that one day humanity can escape Earth and possibly into another world. Professor Brand came up with two plans; plan A and plan B. Plan A was to solve the gravity problem so that humanity could live in space and Plan B was basically to start humanity all over again. Professor Brand is a manipulator because he knows that Plan A will not work and see as very selfish in the ways that he promises each crew of the Lazarus mission and Endurance mission that Plan A would work.
