Dr. Mann was a scientist and leader of the Lazarus mission that was sent through the worm hole. Being the great scientist that he is, he traveled into a galaxy with his robot KIPP. When everything goes south for Dr. Mann and he sees absolutely no prospects in the new icy planet he discovered. His survival instincts kick in and he feels alone. His mindset is based on how he is going to survive and he is not worried about other people. Dr. Mann can be seen as very selfish and somewhat of a coward.
